About John Bennett
John Bennett’s passion for photography began at age 12 with an Instamatic camera and a sense of curiosity that’s never faded. Over the past 30 years, his camera has taken him across the world — from the flight decks of Navy aircraft carriers to the quiet beauty of Florida’s wetlands.
John began his photography career in the U.S. Navy, receiving extensive training in traditional photographic techniques. Early on, he documented the Naval Aviation Choir during appearances on The Today Show, the Miss USA Pageant, and numerous community events. His award-winning work in the All Navy and All Military Photography competitions quickly earned him recognition throughout the military community.
He went on to serve as an instructor at the Naval Schools of Photography before being selected as the official photographer for the Navy’s elite Flight Demonstration Squadron — the Blue Angels. His assignments took him around the U.S., Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, capturing stunning images both in the air and on the ground.
After his military service, John joined McDonnell Douglas (later Boeing) as a staff photographer in St. Louis. There, he specialized in flight test photography, engineering documentation, and video production. He was among the few photographers to fly backseat in the company’s fighter aircraft — including the F/A-18 Hornet, F-15 Eagle, TAV-8 Harrier, and T-45 Goshawk.
Today, John focuses his creative energy on capturing the landscapes, wildlife, and natural beauty of Florida and beyond. His work has been featured in publications, calendars, trading cards, posters, and billboards nationwide.
Through his photography, John continues to share the wonder, precision, and artistry that have defined his career — inviting viewers to see the world through his lens.
